CAN Bus to LoRaWAN
CAN bus carries rich data in generators, vehicles and machinery. Where the application allows, selected CAN signals can be filtered at the edge and sent over LoRaWAN.
- What problem do we solve?
- CAN networks produce far more data than LoRaWAN can carry, so an engineered selection of signals is essential.
- How do we solve it?
- MatrixAI engineers the CAN bus → LoRaWAN (where applicable) conversion — device audit, converter selection, mapping, decoding and commissioning.
- What technologies do we use?
- CAN, LoRaWAN, network server codecs, MQTT / REST
- What can we integrate?
- IoT platforms, BMS, CAFM, SCADA, billing and cloud services

How we do it
Engineering steps
- 01Obtain the CAN database (DBC) or signal documentation
- 02Select the signals that matter
- 03Filter and aggregate at the edge
- 04Send summaries and alarms over LoRaWAN
Typical data points
- Engine hours and status
- Fuel level
- Fault codes
- Key operating values
Use cases
- Generator monitoring
- Off-road equipment telemetry

FAQ
CAN integration questions
Can LoRaWAN carry full CAN traffic?
No. LoRaWAN is suited to periodic summaries and alarms. For full-rate CAN logging we recommend cellular or IP connectivity.
Need CAN bus → LoRaWAN (where applicable) integration?
Tell us about your site, assets and existing systems. A LoRaWAN specialist will review your requirements and propose a practical architecture — no obligation.
